NJ-JBQ Code of Conduct

New Jersey Junior Bible Quiz (NJ-JBQ) is a Christian organization and as such our expectation is that all officials, coaches, quizzers, parents and spectators associated with NJ-JBQ will conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner at all times. However, we recognize the fact that not every person associated with NJ-JBQ is a Christian and we also understand that during the heat of competition emotions can run high and even Christians can behave in ways that they would not normally. Therefore, NJ-JBQ has established this code of conduct to make everyone aware of the type of behavior that is considered appropriate and inappropriate at a NJ-JBQ event.

  • Parents and Spectators:
    • Will speak respectfully to all officials, coaches and quizzers
    • Will remain quiet and under control at all times during a match
    • Will keep their non-quizzing children quiet and under control at all times during a match
    • Will NOT address a coach or quizzer of either team during a match
    • Will NOT address an official and/or question a decision during or after a match (if a parent or spectator has a question they should address their team’s coach or Church coordinator after the match)
  • Quizzers:
    • Will speak respectfully to all officials, coaches and quizzers
    • Will NOT address an official about a decision during or after a match except as permitted per the JBQ Guidelines
  • Coaches:
    • Will speak respectfully to all officials, coaches and quizzers
    • Will NOT address a quizzer of the opposing team during a match
    • Will NOT address a coach of the opposing team during a match except as permitted per the JBQ Guidelines
  • Officials:
    • Will speak respectfully to all officials, coaches and quizzers
    • Will remain under control at all times during a match

Finally, physical abuse, verbal abuse, and harassment towards anyone at a NJ-JBQ event will not be tolerated and will be addressed accordingly. Any violations of this code of conduct during a NJ-JBQ event should be reported to the league coordinator who will in turn report it to the district coordinator. Please understand that non-compliance with these rules could result in disciplinary actions.
